Plea for a better cycling link

I attended the Nestrans board this afternoon, and the main topic for discussion was the draft Regional Transport Strategy 2040.

There is a section on cycling and walking. Among the actions is one to develop a network of high quality and safe active travel routes across the region. Three priority corridors have been identified: Aberdeen city centre to Inverurie, Westhill and Chapelton (via Portlethen, Cove, Altens and Torry). I asked at the board that this be extended from Chapelton to Stonehaven.

The strategy will go out to public consultation at the end of July, so it would be helpful if this were to receive public support. The consultation will run until 2 October, with the aim of it going to the Scottish Government by the end of the year. I’ll post about it on Facebook when it goes public.

The reports to the board can be found by clicking on this link. There is a lot of information about transport in the North East, such as a drop in rail passengers numbers except at Portlethen.
