Pothole repairs to begin

Repairs to roads in the Portlethen, Newtonhill and Muchalls communities are due to commence on Monday 10 January, weather permitting.

Hunter Construction (Aberdeen) will be undertaking patching work on behalf of Aberdeenshire Council.

The council’s Roads Service tells me the company’s schedule is as follows:

  1. Hillside Road and the U61K — Monday/Tuesday
  2. Berrymuir Road, Cairngrassie Drive — Wednesday
  3. Rowanbank Road, Fern Drive, Muirend Road — Thursday, Friday, Monday, Tuesday.

Further work across the three communities will follow to tackle the potholes that have developed over the last 18 months.

Meanwhile Roads Service staff have been dealing with repairs in the country roads. Work has already taken place at Findon, Duffshill, and Altries, for example.

That looks a good start but what about the thousand other little bits and pieces that are (and also have been ) kicking around for many many years and days .

It is good that a start is being made at last. But it would be impossible to start on all the potholes at once! They will start on the worst of them and work through the long list.

I hope that they have Bruntlnd Road at Bourtreebush end on the list where it meets the dual carriageway. Thus is a real mess

It certainly doesn’t look pretty, but it is not much of a worry as some of the deep potholes around. I have asked the Roads Service to sort out with Transport Scotland who is responsible for that bit of no-man’s-land between the trunk road and the council’s road.

    Dear Councillor Ian ,
What might happen do you suppose when a main road comes to meet a lesser road ,??, (such as this example), if xx amount of yards need attention will there be the usual ,””that does not belong to us that belongs to ??? For example entry in to small shop areas , but moreso larger junctions such as “”T”” junctions when both are roads, or one is road/one street?
There are quite a fair amount of examples.around Portlethen.
Thank you for your attention to this so far.

Thankfully there are very few junctions in Portlethen where this is an issue. It is where the council-adopted road meets the trunk road (the A92).
