Been like that for yonks, had a couple of cable ties before it fell off, a bit like some lampposts where the inspection hatches have tape holding them in place. Just another sign of the shortage of money for maintenance in general.

Well if lived right by it or in the vicinity in general, I certainly would but there’s an air of “someone else will do it” these days I guess. Another problem which I’m really concerned about is the amount of green waste tipping going on around the Boswell Road area into the moss. Yesterday as I was picking up litter (another problem round there) I noticed more of a build up of green waste had been heaved over a corner of the wee path and was almost reaching the still water where the frogs always breed. I tried to reach some of it but no luck. I notice the council has erected more signs but sadly they seem to be ignored I don’t know the answer but will continue to see if I can retrieve some of this stuff as people don’t seem to realise it impacts the wild life.

You are right – quite often the “someone else will do it” malaise is in the air. But there are good folk who do try their best. Thank you for picking up litter. That’s something else that baffles me … why drop litter in the first place?

As for the dumping of green waste, that’s not great either, from what you describe. The Waste Service is considering if the council should offer such a paid-for service. There is no legal obligation on the the council to provide such a service. A report will come to councillors in due course.
