A sign of the times

I was pleased to see today that the sign on the A92 northbound after Stonehaven has finally been updated. No longer says the A90 (which is now the Aberdeen bypass of course).

I first raised this with Transport Scotland, Bear Scotland, and the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route team in 2018 when the AWPR opened. Success at last. But all it needed was a sticker saying “A92” to cover “A90”. Instead we have got a brand new sign.

I had also asked if Portlethen could be included in the list of destinations, but no. Oh well.

In with the new …
And out with the old.

Good to see this new sign. Relative to the new junction created with the new road are you able to advise if there are any plans to instal lighting on the east side of what is now the A92 ie to the east of the south bound stretch ?The junction is well lit except for that part and I think it would provide improved visibility for drivers using that whole stretch especially for drivers unfamiliar with the area. It certainly is very much darker than the surroundings. Of course, the arguement against this might well be that , as it was not lit before; why should it be now when it is still the same road just re – numbered. I would argue that it now constitutes part of a major traffic management system.

I have not heard of any plans for more street lighting at the A92/AWPR Fastlink junction, but then I wouldn’t, for two reasons. Firstly, it is not in the North Kincardine ward, and secondly both roads are the responsibility of Transport Scotland, Bear Scotland and Aberdeen Roads (the legacy company from the building of the AWPR which now carries out maintenance). I will have a look.

Thanks. I do understand that Bear has responsibility but thought that there may have been some consultation. I find it interesting that it is called a Fasrlink and would suggest it would seem all the more logical to light it fully. Hugh

Sometimes out of courtesy they advise local councillors of what works they are going to undertake, but there is no requirement to consult us beforehand.
