May I use this space to ask you about the possible consequences if Gladman’s appeal to the Scottish Government regarding the Council’s decision not to include Muchalls for housing development in the current LDP is upheld? Can you confirm that the Council’s strategy for housing will continue to be that Chapelton will absorb the housing requirement within the new LDP due in February,
Gladman’s ” pseudo ” application to build on land to the south of Dunnyfell Road was so full of omissions and inaccuracies that it could never have been accepted but it shows that they have no qualms about such speculation with no consideration for impact on existing settlements, especially one which has a conservation status.
The process allows at this stage for those who have objections to the council’s proposed local development plan to put their views to Scottish Ministers. Seven Reporters have been appointed to examine a local development plan, which is exceptional and no reason has been given for this unprecedented attention.
The outcome is expect in the spring.
The examination report will outline the Reporters’ deliberations and any recommendations that require amendment to be made to the content of the proposed LDP.
It is likely that area specific issues will be referred to the area committees before the content of the Examination Report will be reported to a meeting of Full Council, where councillors will be asked to consider any recommendations made by the Reporter and to decide whether a new LDP for the Aberdeenshire area should be adopted. This is expected in March or April 2022.
It should be noted that any recommendations made by the Reporters are largely binding on the planning authority.
I hope that helps clarify the position, though perhaps not the outcome you would wish!
